PNG2PNG — Frequently Asked Questions

Everything about formats, quality, privacy and how PNG2PNG works.

General

Is PNG2PNG free?
Yes. The tools require no signup and add no watermark.
Does PNG-to-PNG remove transparency?
No. The alpha channel is preserved.
Which tool should I start with?
Use PNG to PNG in Lossless mode first. Move to a palette mode or resizing only when you need a larger reduction.

PNG to PNG

Why convert PNG to PNG?
To cleanly re-encode a file, reduce avoidable overhead, or create a smaller palette-based PNG without changing formats.
Is lossless mode pixel-identical?
Yes. It re-packs the file without changing decoded pixel or alpha values.
Will transparency be preserved?
Yes. All PNG output modes retain transparency.
Can I process a batch?
Yes. Multiple results are returned together in one ZIP.

Reduce PNG File Size

Will the result be exactly 100 KB?
It will be at or below the selected ceiling when that target is practical; compression settings produce ranges rather than an exact byte count.
What if a very small target is impossible?
The tool returns the smallest sensible result it reached so you can decide whether to reduce dimensions further or use another format.

Resize PNG

Will the image be cropped?
No. Width and height scale together, preserving the complete image and its aspect ratio.
What happens to images already smaller than the limit?
Their dimensions remain unchanged and they are re-encoded losslessly.

PNG to WebP

Does WebP preserve transparency?
Yes. Transparent and partially transparent pixels are supported.
Should I delete the original PNG?
Keep it as the source master, especially if you expect to edit or re-export the image later.
